It has always been the strategy of gov.sg to have this sector to be a sizeable chunk of the economy despite our obvious lack of oil/gas resources. Witness for example, the creation of the Jurong Island complex, and more recently, the proposal to build our own SPR conveniently located next to these refineries.</description>
